Character Design

Image
For this project, we decided to make the character's secret identity a so that we can keep some mystery around them. For this subject, I mostly focused on how the masks would look like. I had multiple ideas but I focused on what it would look like. I got a lot of inspiration for the mask you will see l, it’s inspired by the Naruto anbu ninja masks. The character will be mixed in the art style and now that I have figured out what it’s like. Now I will focus on their other teammates that have different masks and the different characteristics of the what they will be like. I will try to imply what I have been inspired by with the art styles in the my sketch book. I’m really looking forward to working on what the story is going to look like and how I will be able to imply the works that are part of my inspiration and I really can't wait to get to get starting on the work.

Project Journey: Finalising the ground work and starting the script.

When we finished reserching and focusing some of the ideas, now came to the part of finalsing the theme, message and story. For awhile we had finalised the name and mask design for our main character Howler.                                                                                       Howlers mask (final design) Now came the part where we had to finalise our theme and story. How this process went was, as a group we came up with a final theme and message and then Brendan and I decided to make seperate story synopsis' based on the theme, message, setting and character.      We then had a focus group read each synopsis and get feedback on each.      After that excercise we took elements from each syno...

Project Journey: How we focused our idea

When we had a general idea of what the story will be, the setting and what will inspire the look of the world and characters. Our team split into two parts, Leah and Chloe dealt with the illustrations and art style, while  Brendan and I had to deal with the writing. So Chloe and Leah researched different art styles and sketched more concept art of characters to finalise their designs and come closer to a style for the animation portion. While Brendan and I researched different ideas for the story and setting. After much research and deliberation, we decided to drop the film and focus on the graphic novel as our skill set and time wouldn't allow us to make a proper film that would convey the point and story. When we held our first presentation about our idea, we talked to some lectures about feedback and where we could improve, from the feedback we then hashed out a final art style, started to finalise the story we wanted to tell. As a group, we agreed upon what theme ...

Project Journey- Beginning

When starting our idea, all members of our group had agreed upon making a post-apocalyptic, war story set in the future. The medium we originally went for was a live-action drama film with animated elements.  We wanted the story to revolve around one character and their journey through the story and their perspective.  So we started making concept boards about the theme of the story, trying to figure out what theme suits the idea and we even made concept boards on inspirations for character designs. (see images below) When we finalised the setting, the idea for the story and the look and feel of the world and characters. We decided to give ourselves a team name we called ourselves Kotar productions and created a Wolf symbol as our logo.
